RSC Monthly Bulletin Feb 2020
RSC Monthly Bulletin
February 2020
Updates and Changes:
- Changes to the AASC ADL counts!
- AASC and HUD recently changed their guidelines for what counts as an Activity of Daily Living (ADL) need. Now, to qualify as an ADL need, a resident must require hands on care for that activity. This will dramatically reduce the numbers of ADL needs at our sites, thus changing the number of "Frail" and "At-Risk" elderly that appear on our reports.
- In order to continue to provide an accurate snapshot of our resident statuses, we need to change up how we are documenting the ADL assessment.
- HERE is a PDF with detailed instructions on how to document ADL and IADL needs moving forward. This will ensure that your ADL counts are clean and detailed but also accurately capture those residents that refuse services but still have ADL needs.
- Incident Reports
- The EHM Incident Report - available HERE if you need it
- This is done:
- when you call 911
- when you are informed of a fall/injury in a common area (lobby, community room, parking lot)
- Sent to Pam K., your Regional Manager, and the DRS
- paper copy kept in the resident's file
- The AASC Incident Report - available under the resident's file in AASC
- utilize for SfS (Standards for Success) report
- this includes the planned hospitalization, unplanned hospitalization, and ER visits only
- This is done:
- when you hear/learn that a resident was in the hospital or in the ER
- you would meet with the resident to obtain details such as: planned or unplanned hospitalization, for how long, and for what reason (for planned)
- Reminders:
- hospitalizations need an updated ADL/Individual Assessment at which point you would obtain the necessary information for the Incident Report
- an ER visit without a hospitalization does not require an updated Assessment and can be logged as a Home Visit to obtain the necessary information for the Incident Report
- AASC Violations Report
- We are not utilizing this feature at this time
- Property Profile
- RSCs must review their site(s) Property Profiles, available on the Property Homepage
- Complete the Build Community / Property-Wide Profile Report
- This must be completed by March 31, 2020
- FYI, a high rise is 5 floors and above; a low rise is 4 floors and below
