Summer RSC Appreciation Event: June 2023
I hope you are all having a great summer! If you were unable to join us for the summer event this year, we missed you and hope you can join us at our Winter event.
SUMMER BIRTHDAYS
END OF HUD YEAR & TRAINING CALENDAR
- As you are all aware, our HUD year ends on September 30th, 2023. Every site in AASC will be checked for a "Complete File" on October 2nd.
- Please make sure you are reviewing all of your residents, including non-participants, for file compliance and updated each piece of the file.
- If you would like us to do a quick review, please let us know as soon as possible.
- For Training, several staff have requested trainings on Program Outcome and Evaluation and Role of the RSC.
- I will provide these trainings via TEAMS on Wednesday, August 30th at 1:00pm.
- This is completely optional.
STAFFING UPDATES
- Congregate RSCs are joining our team! EHM manages four Congregate/DOH sites and the RSC staff there will now be under DRS supervision. They will attend our RSC meetings and Continuing Education events.
- Please join me in welcoming:
- Laura Castagna, RSC at Mystic River Congregate (Noank, CT)
- Lisa Crowley, RSC at Hill House (Greenwich, CT)
- Maritza Maldanodo, RSC at Bacon Congregate (Hartford, CT)
- Anna Montemurno, RSC at Silverbrook (West Haven, CT)
- When you send out program ideas or training/community meeting opportunities, please include the Group Name: Congregate RSCs in order to share items with them! As they do not report to HUD, I will not always share our HUD documentation updates with them, but I'd like them to be included in other learning opportunities.
- If you are the geographic area of these sites, I'd like you to reach out and introduce yourself! You may be able to share program ideas or providers!
- Meredith Engratt, RSC at Westerleigh I and II has resigned, effective 8/23/2023. She will be moving down south to be closer to loved ones. Thank you, Meredith, for your time at Westerleigh and we wish you all the best!
- If you are available to provide coverage while we recruit a replacement, please let me know.
- The Maples! We are in the final stages of recruitment for the Maples in Massachusetts. If you are available for September training either in Massachusetts (mileage provided) or to have our new staff come to you, please let me know! It would be extremely helpful.
HOUSEKEEPING UPDATES
- Photo Releases
- With our increased focus on a variety of Programming and providing "Mission Moments" in RSC work to the New Samaritan Board, I would like to include in our monthly reports, photos of programs and resident events that show our impact on site.
- Please have each of your residents sign the Photo Release, available HERE.
- This can be done at your assessments with the Confidentiality Agreements or whenever convenient to you.
- I'd like you to try to send me pictures from your programs or from a big resident event, whenever you are able. It does NOT need to be every month. We recently received a photo of a resident after he received his new recliner, purchased by a volunteer organization with help from the RSC.
IMPORTANT DATES AND UPCOMING MEETINGS
- I am off on Monday, August 14th and I will be away the week of August 21st. I am returning on Monday, August 28th.
- Please give me some time to sort through the emails and calls on the 28th! I may not respond until the 29th!
- Starting Friday, August18th, I will be attending a Leadership Development Series with the Corporate staff, one Friday each month. I will try to keep you guys aware of what Fridays they are as I will be unable to answer my phone or check emails during those days.
- Reports: are due on Thursday, August 31st ... you may turn your reports in early.
A NOTE FROM DRS
- As we are wrapping up another HUD year, this one particularly filled with change and adjustments for us all, I wanted to thank you for all of the work that you do. I have always been proud of this team, and I continue to be proud to work with and for each of you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or need feedback. And, as always, thank you for all that you do for me, our residents, and for EHM.
Stay safe and enjoy these last couple of weeks of summer!
